“I never expected something like this to happen. You seem completely unaware of the situation, don’t you? Your name is…”
Sera felt as if she was being mocked and started to feel upset.
“It’s Sera. Yes… I really have no idea.”
“Hmm. It’s a pretty name. You know the menu items you ordered? It’s like a code for special requests.”
Raon pointed at the menu items as he spoke.
“Specifically, ordering ‘Grilled Pork Sandwich,’ ‘Pork Rib Steak,’ ‘Ham Omelette,’ and ‘Jamon Salad’—these four pork dishes means a special request. Adding rose tea calls for the master, which is me.”
‘What a strange setup… I just ordered because I like pork.’
Sera asked curiously.
“Why is that a special request order?”
Raon replied as if he found it amusing.
“No one orders four pork dishes. Haha… It’s kind of a joke. I didn’t expect it to actually happen. Haha.”
Sera’s face turned red.
“So~ I was just hungry!”
Giggling, Raon said.
“Got it. Sorry, sorry. There was a misunderstanding. I won’t charge you for today’s meal. You must have been hungry and waited long.”
“What?! Wow… Thank you! Then… I’ll enjoy it without hesitation.”
Sera quickly brightened up and beamed.
‘Wow. Saved some money! I should’ve ordered more! Hmm~’
Raon rested his chin on his hand and smiled at Sera.
“I’m the one who’s thankful. I wasn’t in a good mood after meeting a stubborn gentleman. Thanks to you, I could laugh.”
Raon looked at Sera’s luggage and continued.
“But what’s up with you, Sera? Did you run away from home? You seem hungry too.”
“Ah… well, I just ran away from the mansion where I was working. I’ll never go back to such a place again.”
“What? Which family is it? Should I teach them a lesson?!”
Sera laughed as she watched Raon speak so seriously.
“Pfft… No, compared to that person, Raon… sir…”
Raon brushed his hair back and said. The black pearl earring on his right ear glistened.
“Just call me Raon.”
Sera felt a slight tickle in her chest.
“R-Raon looks… too delicate.”
Raon raised an eyebrow and said.
“There’s no one in the capital I can’t teach a lesson to. Well… except for Marquis Lafjehill.”
As Raon trailed off with a face full of dissatisfaction, Sera’s eyes widened.
“Why? Did you come from the Lafjehill mansion by any chance?”
Sera nodded silently.
“Hmm. What happened in that mansion?”
Sera hesitated, wondering if she should talk about what happened at the mansion.
Raon leaned forward, getting closer to Sera, slightly lowering his head as he looked at her with curious eyes.
“I’m curious…”
The sweet scent mingled with rose tea seemed to tickle her heart.
‘Aah… is this a beauty trap? So this is how you use good looks..’
Sera hesitated as she explained the events at the mansion.
From the reason she came to the mansion, Billy’s harassment, the head maid’s vicious behavior, the Marquis’s indifference, to the words she exchanged with the Marquis as she left the mansion.
“Because the Marquis supported the orphanage where I grew up… I think I was even more angry. It felt like a kind of betrayal.”
Raon thought for a moment after hearing the story.
‘This matter… can’t just be overlooked.’
“Well. I’m not exactly defending Marquis Lafjehill, but he’s not the type to just stand by. It’s probably that head maid deceiving him with ease.”
“Huh? Do you… know the Marquis well?”
“Well. We have a business relationship.”
“Then… did I misunderstand the Marquis? What should I do…?”
“He’s not the type to hold grudges. Don’t worry about it.”
Raon comforted Sera, who was anxious. At that moment, some of the ordered dishes arrived.
Sera looked at the food and said,
“Wow, it looks delicious…”
‘Just a moment ago, she seemed so nervous. But now that the food’s here, she seems to have forgotten. Pfft… She must have been really hungry.’
Seeing Raon staring at her intently, Sera hesitated and said,
“But… aren’t you busy? Watching me eat like this…”
“I want to talk with you a bit more, Sera. You said you wanted to find your name too.”
‘Is he trying to help me?’
Sera looked at Raon. He was staring intently at her. She closed her eyes tightly and said,
“Just… don’t stare at me like that!”
Raon smiled and said,
“You must be hungry, so go ahead and eat.”
“Thank you for the meal…!”
Sera diligently ate the food as it was served.
Raon watched Sera with an affectionate gaze.
“Is it good?”
“Ack, cough cough!”
Suddenly choking, Sera hurriedly drank the water Raon handed her.
‘Ah… this is driving me crazy. Why does that scene keep popping into my head when asked if it’s good? Can I even function in daily life…?’
Raon handed Sera a handkerchief as she drank the water and said,
“Eat slowly. I’m not going to take it away.”
Sera took the handkerchief, wiped her mouth, and said,
“Ahem… Ahem. It’s really… delicious. Thank you.”
“By the way, why are you trying to find your name?”
Sera seriously separated the ribs and said.
“I haven’t had my pheromone manifestation yet. They say you need to know your real name registered at the temple for it to happen.”
Raon widened his eyes in surprise and said.
“What? Then you don’t have pheromones?”
Sera nodded as she popped a rib into her mouth.
‘What a shame. Hmm…’
Raon looked a bit disappointed.
“Oh… wait. Then you wouldn’t have any sexual desire either. Why are you so eager for the pheromone manifestation?”
‘Having pheromones isn’t all good… Does she want to have children…?’
“I do have sexual desire. So… I hope my pheromone manifests soon.”
Raon tilted his head, genuinely curious, and murmured.
“How does that happen?”
Sera continued eating and thought as she looked at Raon.
‘He said he’s a guild master… If it’s him…’
Sera wiped her mouth and spoke solemnly.
“Well. The temple said it’s because I only know part of my name. So I know my name but not my surname.”
“Even so, can’t you just re-register your name at the temple with your current name?”
“I’ve already tried that method… Actually, my dad… is a noble. It seems there’s a registered name from the family, so that method didn’t work.”
Raon nodded as if he understood.
‘Ah, so that’s it.’
“…A noble, huh. So if you find your dad’s family, the problem is solved?”
Raon spoke as if it was no big deal. Sera’s face brightened as she said.
“Yes! That’s right. Can you find them?!”
Raon suddenly put on a serious face and said.
“If you’re commissioning me… it might be quite expensive, is that okay?”
Sera flinched in surprise and said.
“Uh… how much is it? Although I don’t have much right now… I’ll work somehow to pay it off! I’m really strong, you know. I’ll do any kind of work…”
Raon, whose face gradually turned playful, chuckled and waved his hand dismissively.
“I’m just kidding. Just kidding. What payment? Is there anything else besides the clue about the noble?”
Sera let out a sigh of relief, as if she was thankful.
“Phew… um. It’s a bit long to explain… The food… it’s getting cold. Can I tell you while we eat?”
Raon giggled and said she could.
‘Seems like a considerate person. It feels enjoyable to be with him.’
‘A bold and cute young lady. I must find out which noble family she belongs to.’
Sera recalled and began to tell her story. Seventeen years ago, she parted with her father and learned she was an illegitimate child. Her eyes were inherited from her father, and her mother’s original name was Feria.
Raon, who was jotting down notes in a notebook, said.
“With all this information, it should be easy to find! If only we knew the color of your father’s family, we could find out instantly.”
Meanwhile, Sera had finished her meal.
“Hmm. That… I don’t know…”
Raon looked at Sera with wide eyes and thought.
‘Wow. She really finished it all.’
“Did you enjoy the meal? I’d love to find out quickly for you, but the request I received before meeting you is a bit troublesome, so it might take some time. If I pass it to another guild member, they could find it quickly.”
Sera wiped her mouth and said.
‘If possible… it would be nice if it were quick…’
“You can take your time… It’s the first time I’ve told anyone this story, Raon. I’d prefer if no one else knew…”
Raon smiled gently.
“Alright. Got it. I’ll look into it myself. If I find information about your father, where should I let you know? Do you have a place to stay?”
“Yes. I’m planning to return to my hometown. It’s the Seren Orphanage in Letren.”
“Letren? You’ve come from far away. So now… will it be hard to see you again? That’s a shame…”
Sera blushed as she looked at Raon.
“Then, if I find my name and my pheromone manifestation happens… I’ll definitely come to see you as a token of gratitude. So you can be my first partner… I prayed to God for a strong pheromone…! Hehe.”
Raon smiled gently, gathered his notebook, and stood up.
“Sure. That would be an honor. I’ll be waiting.”
As he passed by Sera, he bent down and whispered in her ear.
“But who will be more rewarded…? We’ll find out then, won’t we?”
Sera’s face turned red, and she bowed her head deeply.
Raon put the notebook inside his jacket and left. Sera faintly smiled as she heard him tell Rika not to charge for Sera’s table.
After Raon left, Sera picked up the menu he left behind and ordered another beef steak.
‘Saved money, met a beautiful person, got help finding my name—it turned out to be a great day! The way back to Seren will be so light!’
Before leaving work, Rika went to find Raon and said.
“Master. About that young lady earlier. After you left, she ordered another beef steak and ate it all. She insisted on paying, so she paid for the steak before leaving.”
Raon, who was sitting at his office desk, troubled with thoughts, laughed heartily at Rika’s words.
“Ahahaha. She’s really an interesting young lady. Sera, right? I want to see her again.”
“Master? It’s the first time I’ve heard you say you want to see a woman again.”
“Hmm. Is that so? She’s fun, isn’t she?”
“Not really. She’s not my type.”
“She’s not my type either. I like light-colored hair. What’s your type?”
“Voluptuous, very sensual… and alluring, sexy… just like the Empress.”
Raon made a face as if he had seen something he shouldn’t have.
“Ugh. Hey. The adjectives were fine, but why bring up the Empress all of a sudden?”
“Why? She’s incredibly sexy.”
“Ugh. Forget it. Why am I even talking to you?”
Rika looked at Raon, shaking his head, with a curious expression.
Before Sera arrived. At a window seat on the second floor.
Seian sat with his legs crossed, opened the menu, and pointed randomly to order.
Grilled pork sandwich, rib steak, ham omelet, ham salad. And rose tea.
Rika spoke with an awkward smile.
“Marquis, you don’t really need to order… The Master will be here soon.”
“…”
A moment later, Raon came up, made a disgusted face upon seeing Seian, and plopped down in front of him.
“What’s up?”
“Find him. Jake.”
“How am I supposed to find a rogue dragon?”
Raon sneered, twisting his cotton candy-like hair.
“Isn’t that your job? Anyway, until you find him, this is the last one. I have no choice either.”
Seian tossed a small black orb in front of Raon and left.
‘Damn it.’
Raon fiddled with the orb.
Sera came out to the street, satisfied with a full stomach.
The square’s street felt warmer than before sunset, thanks to the lights.
‘I won’t be able to see such bright evenings once I return to Letren… I feel a bit wistful. I should spend the rest of the day here and leave for Letren early tomorrow morning.’
The brightly lit street was more crowded than usual with people.
‘I only heard the maid’s story and misunderstood on my own. I hastily thought of him as a hypocrite. Hmm… I don’t know if I’ll ever meet him again. But if I do, I should bow my head and apologize. Not that I expect forgiveness…’
Sera, lost in various thoughts, wandered around near the square looking for an inn to stay for the night.
Posters were plastered everywhere, and there was one on the door of the inn Sera found, allowing her to take a closer look.
[Year-end Festival Special! First-ever Rainbow Fireworks Show! Spend the last night of the 330th year in front of the square fountain. 9 PM.]
After seeing the poster, Sera entered the inn and asked the innkeeper.
“Hello. I’m looking to stay for a night. Do you have a room?”
